Otorongo: Eyes in the Dark

There is something in you that already knows what this night is for.

The jaguar — Otorongo in my ancestral tradition — has never needed light to see. She moves through darkness the way water moves through rock. Slowly, completely, without apology. And what she finds there isn't something to be afraid of. It's something that has been waiting to be seen.

May 13th is that kind of night. The sky is asking us to look inward — at the places we've quietly stopped visiting, the parts of ourselves we've organized our lives around avoiding. Pluto just went retrograde. The underworld is active. Your shadow has something to say.

We'll open with ceremonial cacao — a heart medicine from the Amazon that softens what the body has been gripping, and makes the truth easier to feel than to avoid. From there we move into breathwork and a deep guided journey with Otorongo as our ally. She won't push you into anything. She'll just walk beside you, and somehow in her presence, you'll find that you can see clearly in the dark too.

You'll leave this night lighter. Not because anything was taken from you — but because you finally looked at it. And you didn't break. That matters more than most people realize until they experience it.

What to Bring Yoga mat, a blanket or layers, water, journal if you like to write after.

A note on cacao Ceremonial cacao is a plant medicine — not a supplement, not a superfood. She opens the heart, increases blood flow, and moves things that have been still for a long time. Please don't drink if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, taking SSRIs, MAOIs, or antidepressants, managing high blood pressure or a heart condition, or sensitive to stimulants. You are still welcome to come and sit with the ceremony without drinking — the breathwork and the journey are their own medicine. If you're unsure, please consult with your doctor and feel free to reach out before you register. I'd rather talk it through with you than have you show up uncertain.
