The Return of the Living Heart: A Cacao Ceremony

  • Skinterest Easton PA (map)

After getting our hands in the dirt this February—clearing out the old ancestral noise and finding our footing—we’ve finally built a foundation that can actually hold us. Now, we’re moving from the roots of the matter into the warmth of the heart. We’re taking that solid, grounded energy and using it to let the heart finally thaw out, open up, and breathe with a sense of total safety.

Aligned with the Spring Equinox—the moment of perfect balance between light and dark—we gather in Easton to celebrate the "Living Heart." In the Andean tradition, the heart is the center of Munay (the wisdom of love). We will sit in a sacred circle for this cacao ceremony, working with a gentle yet profound plant medicine that increases blood flow and opens the heart’s energetic gates.

Through rhythmic breathing, healing sound, and a deep meditative journey, we invite the "thaw." We look at the places where we have become cold or guarded and invite the warmth of the cacao to soften our edges. This is a space for radical self-compassion and the planting of new seeds. You will leave this ceremony feeling a renewed sense of openness, connected not only to your own inner truth but to the collective heartbeat of the group.

  • Focus: Heart-opening, intention setting, and emotional rebirth.

Gentle Reminders:
Ceremonial cacao is gentle, but it is still a heart-opening plant medicine that our ancestors treated with deep respect.

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, on SSRIs or other antidepressants, have high blood pressure, a heart condition, or are highly sensitive to stimulants, please consume a smaller amount of cacao or choose to sit with the ceremony without drinking.

Cacao increases blood flow and gently stimulates the cardiovascular system, so listening to your body is essential. If you’re unsure, you’re always welcome to ask me before we begin.

Preparation + Aftercare:
1. “How to Prepare for Ceremony
A simple list to help you arrive grounded, open, and attuned.

2. “Navigating Sadness or Emotional Waves After Ceremony
A gentle resource, especially because cacao and breathwork can stir memories, tenderness, or release.
Everything that rises does so for a reason — and you won’t be alone in that process.
